Firefighters help deliver baby. (Source: WOIO)

PARMA, OH (WOIO) -
The Parma Fire Dept. responded to a call of a woman in labor in the shopping center at Pleasant Valley and Broadview Rds. at around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30.

The patient's husband was taking her to Hillcrest Hospital when they realized they weren't going to make it so he pulled into the parking lot and called the Fire Dept.

Medics David Knecht and Joe Harder arrived within minutes. This was Harder's first delivery assist being hired just a few months ago.

They then transported mom and her new son to the hospital.

After 33 Years

Today is Firefighter Brian Flanagan's last day after a 33 year career serving the citizens of Parma. He has been assigned to Engine Co. 2 for the past 15 years. Brian is the top MDA fundraiser in the history of the PFD. We wish Brian a long, healthy and happy retirement.
